Inspired by the Women’s March on Washington DC, and by the clever, witty, irreverent signs crafted by the marchers in reaction to the 2016 US election, I initially created compositions for a limited edition silk scarf, as well as a double-sided cotton pillow cover, with the “signs” on one side and the “spirit” of the march on the other. I labeled this theme American Spring 2017. The following year I added two more scarf designs – March for Science and March for Our Lives – based on the respective grassroots movements.
A portion of proceeds from sales derived from the American Spring Campaign have helped fund Planned Parenthood, as well as MFOL youth initiatives.

2020 ushered in a pandemic and the accompanying social isolation. I felt compelled to react by bringing into focus the relentless suffering inside covid ICUs, as well as the anti-racist messages from both street protests and voices from the past.
