RIPPLES: a rotating art exhibition at the UC Hastings College of the Law

July, 2022

RIPPLES will be on view at San Francisco’s UC Hastings College of the Law beginning May 26, 2022.

UC Hastings invites you to join local Bay Area artists and witness the UC Hastings evolution and new addition to the Academic Village. We are proud to unveil our latest community partnership – RIPPLES – a rotating exhibition where art is on loan from artists, community partners, and collectors from around the San Francisco Bay Area.

On Thursday, May 26th, 2022, from 4pm-6pm, our art walk will showcase the artists and their work in the heart of San Francisco. The event will feature light refreshments, an open wine & beer bar, and live musical entertainment along with remarks by Art Consultant Esther Mallouh who curated the project.

When asked if I would loan the UC Hastings College of the Law my triptych LISTEN! I was starting to feel some ripples of optimism inspired by the summer’s protests against systemic racial injustice that led me to dig deeper into the messages from the street. I liked that the resulting artwork’s proposed location would be in the common area of the Social Justice Clinics. Once I saw all the other art installed throughout the extended campus, I finally understood the meaning of the program’s title… I found an underlying, common message of hope, humanity, and active awareness of the times we are living in woven through the works of many of the fellow artists represented. LISTEN ! is a triptych inspired by the urgency of the recent protests against systemic racial injustice. In this critical time I feel an overwhelming need to pay attention to the voices on the street as well as to those from the past. Words matter.

I am delighted to know that LISTEN! is located in the social justice clinics area...
May the hearts and minds of the aspiring young law students - future lawyers, judges, and justices - be inspired by the wise words on my triptych.
Much animated discussion around the triptych's messages...
