Ex-Peau
May, 2004
In 2004, l’Espace Beaurepaire in Paris – an old leather factory transformed into art gallery – hosted the exhibition « Ex-Peau », and paid tribute to this ancient Parisian craft. Artists were invited to present works inspired by the factory’s rich history.
In 2004, l’Espace Beaurepaire – an old leather factory transformed into art gallery – hosted the exhibition « Ex-Peau », and paid tribute to this ancient parisian craft. Artists were invited to present works inspired by the factory’s rich history. The accumulations and juxtapositions of photographic sequences representing different kinds of water – from streams, from the sea – reveal patterns reminiscent of the texture of animal hides. For Ex-Peau, I installed a double photo-curtain, on one side inspired by the treasures found in the former warehouse of Chaim Gutmann, and on the other by the texture of the water flowing next to this historic place.
