Entre Deux

In February 2004 the Alliance Française celebrated its 100th anniversary. For this occasion, architect Patrick Chauvin and I were asked to create a site-specific installation, titled “Entre Deux”.
In February 2004 the Alliance Française celebrated its 100th anniversary. For this occasion, architect Patrick Chauvin and I were asked to create a site-specific installation, titled “Entre Deux“. I created and installed two, 40-foot tall, photographic ‘cascades’: White Waterfall and Cascading Books. Suspended from structural ceiling beams, these works unfurled to the atrium floor, four stories below, in the institution’s headquarters in Paris. Paired thematic panels flanked the walkway leading to the upper floors. I also installed a horizontal strip of sky in one of the building’s exterior industrial stairwells, Stairway to Heaven.
