The Russian invasion of Ukraine has brought back feelings and memories of the Second World War stories I was raised on. When the Russians retreated from the town of Bucha, the world became aware of the horrors they left behind. I felt the need to express this horror by surrounding the inanimate hands of murdered civilians with the hands of friends and neighbors in a collective expression of horror and grief.
